Lead generation is all about building relationships based on trust. It is not enough for your customers to like you. They have to trust you with their money. That is why one-night-stand marketing techniques don’t work. You need to spend a lot of effort, time, and money to reach out, engage, and make your customers feel like they have an exclusive membership in the club.
So in this second part of our list of lead generation techniques for 2020, we’ll discuss strategies that help businesses achieve long-term relationship with potential customers.
6. Devise an outreach system.
A lot of marketers think that email marketing is dead. Well, that is true for traditional marketing. Cold email is a saturated marketing technique, so you need to try something new. Whether you’re sending out emails for new or old customers, you need to focus on what your customer needs. Personalization is no longer about addressing your customers on a first name basis. You need to show in your email that you know what they’re going through and that you understand their pains. Then, position your solution based on their needs.
Once you have drafted your email, test your email. Measure your results, optimize or improve the parts that are not working, or try a new approach.
7. Send them some good ol’fashioned mail.
Yes, direct mail still works. In fact, direct mail generates a whooping 65% response rate. That’s higher than most newer lead generation techniques. While everyone is going all out in the digital space, it is a good idea to try this traditional medium. You can send a simple note or card, especially during the holiday season, along with a small gift. You don’t have to include expensive gifts, a pen holder, mail opener, table accessories, or other trinkets will do. And, don’t forget to personalize your gift and message.
8. Join engaged communities.
What’s the point of all your promotions and content if no one is going to see them? So before you go all out with your marketing, you need to know where your customers are and where they get their information. Joining communities that are relevant to your industry is a good way of getting your content out to the people that matter. You can start with LinkedIn groups, Quora, Reddit, and Facebook Groups.
9. Reach new audiences with guest blogging.
Guest blogging is another way to get your content in front of a bigger audience. Others might feel that it is a waste of time, but guest blogging can drive high quality leads and added traffic to your website. When choosing a publication, check out the domain authority, social following, and monthly traffic of the website. If you think that the website will bring your readers a lot of benefits, you can pitch your topic to the editor. Once the editor accepted your topic, draft an article that would benefit both your website readers.
10. Amplify your message through influencer marketing.
Working with influencers can introduce you to new leads and sales opportunities, and provide more eyeballs for your content. You can collaborate by creating promos and giveaways, creating a joint project, or creating a new product line for your influencer. You might need to allocate some budget for this though.
